I see you found the #anime channel. I think there's a #manga channel as well. Craploads of channels/feeds in here. Pretty much once you get it all setup and subscribe to the various channels/feeds your homepage pretty much becomes a one-stop shop for all news related to your specific interests. I read news and use jaiku pretty much solely on my N800.
Yep, fiddled around with the anime channel just a bit. Not too much, but it's reasonably nifty. I don't have a lot of stuff feeding in per se, but I did add scans_daily, which is full of non-stop comic book crack. Meanwhile, VoIP DS sounds very...odd.
Are there any basics I really need to know about all this? Poking around I have yet to find any real discussion of, say, text markup, namely URLs. Also, I take it using @iball at the beginning will send the message directly to you, yes?
And it says everything I needed to know at the bottom of the "add comment" section, namely this links to a website. And, presumably you're the only person reading this, so, yeah.
Yeah, that's my "dump everything" folder; you've had the link before, but there's the reminder. Also, I was attempting to send you a direct message and it turned out to be a public post. I went ahead and made my account private for the time being. Meanwhile, here's the link: courtesy of the Academy Award winners the Three Six Mafia, the greatest anthem ever about drinking cough syrup. Sample lyric: "Sippin' on the srup sittin' on the front poarch/Get real dizzy fall down on the flo"
Between you and me, I've got more amphetamines than Eckards or Wallgreens. Yeah, that song is so wonderfully stupid I can't help but love it. David and I have been blasting it throughout the house on a regular basis. Ah, the early days of the Three Six Mafia before they became respectable Academy Award winners by writing songs about such mainstream topics and pimping!
Are you seeing all the "posts" coming in from the feeds I added? I hope not...I made all my posts "private" as you did (from the very beginning!) but it's useful having Mauku on the N800 act as my RSS feed reader. It self-updates every 300 seconds. I know the dev and I've been helping him test some of his latest builds.
The only music I've been listening to lately has been Pendulum for some odd reason...I've got Sirius sat radio now both in the car and at home (24x7 NPR everywhere, bishes!) and I hear that one once in a while and the funniest line in their "Painkiller" song is "I'm reachin' in mah cupboard for a painkiller." Actually, I think that's the ONLY line.
Also, listening to a white Australian guy on their "Faction" channel host a rap show is both hilarious and sad at the same time in equal parts.
I'm getting your RSS feeds, but it's no big deal. I've added two of my own, one of which just went up: The Blank Top Chronicles, a ruthlessly funny blog from a cab dispatcher in DC who can't get fired for saying whatever the hell he likes to customers that annoy him. You should see it pop up the same way I'm seeing your feeds arrive. Check it out.
As for music, I recently found a torrent of the Top 1000 German hits of the past thirty years or so. I think it was exclusively number one hits, but I'm not sure. I downloaded everything that wasn't in English or that I recognized and wanted and got some classic stuff: "Anton aus Tyrol", "Ein Insel Mit Zwei Bergen", "I Wanna Be A Hippie", all stuff you'd turned me on to ages ago.
So, my question: any other goofy German techno to recommend? I can probably track it down on the web, or you're welcome to just pass along the hook-up.
Well, my RSS feeds are Ars Technica, Engadget, The Register (home of the BOFH), Techdirt, Penny Arcade, Gizmodo, The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW), the Inquirer, WWdN, and All About Symbian. So you'll get a good dose of tech news. I hate Digg though...
Goofy german techno? Hmmm...search for "Scooter". He just runs around yelling "Hyper Hyper!" at the top of his lungs on a drum-n-bass beat. He lives in Hamburg I think. Jenny knows him since her fiance works for exclusively as his "sound guy".
I'll have to email/skype Jenny to see what's new/funny over there now.
Even their timeline is hysterical:
"In 1986 German recording artists H. P. Baxxter and Rick J. Jordan formed a new wave band known as Celebrate the Nun. The boys released two albums and five singles as Celebrate The Nun. In late 1993 the two men joined up with H.P.'s cousin Ferris Bueller and manager Jens Thele to form a remix team known as The Loop. "
Bueller....Bueller....Bueller. They never got that joke in Germany.
Also look for "fettes brot" (fat bread) and "fantastischen vier" (Fantastic Four, never ben sued by anyone for that name either!)
Both German rap bands. Both equally funny.
Award-winning lyrics such as"
F to dem A-N-T-A-S
alles klar jetzt gibt's megastress
ihr wolltet grade gehn, ahah vergesst's
wir wollen doch mal sehen wer hier wen verlässt
du sagst du liebst jetzt ne and're band
i'm sorry i don't understand
auch wenn die letzten jahre schwierig war'n
was haben die denn schon was wir nicht ha'm

Playing around with SvSip on my Nintendo DS right now...it turns the DS into a full-on VoIP phone. Pretty cool.

You have to love a band that includes such smash hits as "How Much Is the Fish?", "Move Your Ass!", and my favorite "Hyper Hyper!".

I'll check out Scooter for sure. Hit me with any other favorite techno recommendations, goofy, German, or otherwise.

Here: http://www.cascada-music.de/index2.html
As I come across more I'll post the links. But that type of techno/dance beat is HUGELY popular in Germany.
